Approach
I possess and practice compassion to do this work that I love. I take your concerns seriously without judgment to create a safe & comfortable environment to share. I’m easy to approach, a calming presence, an excellent listener with a gentle sense of humor.
Effective psychotherapy enhances your awareness which promotes a “change in thinking” resulting in “having a real voice” to participate fully in your life. I possess effective brainstorming & problem solving techniques. I rely on a strong blend of clinical experience and a scientific approach to better understand our unhealthy symptoms and our sense of self. I’m all about eliciting change in thought (reframing technique) to help one develop an evidence-based perspective grounded in reality.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely practiced methodology effective in changing unhealthy thinking that leads to unhealthy behaviors.
Practicing CBT, we learn to identify and “re-frame” some of the distorted and negative thoughts to more positive thinking and healthier outcomes.

Fees & Insurance
For Insurance Providers, I am an Out-of-Network provider and do not accept payments directly from insurance plans. Many of my clients are reimbursed directly from their insurance provider if their health plan includes a “reimbursement benefit”. Not all plans include this benefit.
Insurance plans offering a “reimbursement benefit” require my office to sign their forms or for me to generate a summary letter of services rendered. I provide the documents to the client for their submittal to their insurer and they receive payment directly from the insurer.
For those clients with a “reimbursement benefit” I generate a summary letter of services for the client to submit to the insurance provider.
Fees:
$100 per 50 min session - Individual or couples session
$25 per group – Groups sessions are 1 hour weekly
$285 – Standard Alcohol & Drug & Assessment Tests
Payment:
Checks, cash, or credit cards. I do have a sliding scale fee policy.
Testimonials
I went to Scott at a particularly tough time in my life. I was struggling with a drug and alcohol problem and had recently been divorced. I needed to find someone who would listen to me and validate what I did well and not so well. Having two psych degrees myself, I know the psycho-babble and had no interest in that. Scott gently guided me to wanting better and doing better. Little does Scott know, I use some of his approach and style in my own practice. I have referred to Scott and without hesitation, I highly recommend him to anyone who yearns to heal. read more

Effective therapy requires the individual seeking counsel to be comfortable with the therapist. The therapeutic process takes place between the therapist and the client/patient. Fact. I view the initial session as an interview of the therapist and to evaluate if the therapist skills, experience, and knowledge can address your needs.
With this in mind, initial sessions are free-of-charge for you, the consumer, to determine if there is a level of connection to proceed further. Personally, I wish the entire mental health profession adopted this policy as a common practice.
